Bangalow Palm Disease, can some help identify it??? (forum)

Hey there, I live in Nothern NSW, just West of Kyogle.

I've been planting Bangalow palms on my property as part of an ongoing rainforest regeneration for many years.

Recently I've noticed that some very well established palms [8-10 years] are being attacked by what I presume is some kind of disease or rot????
But I have know idea what it is, or if I can do anything about it. [See attached Image]

Some of the younger palms are starting to show early signs as well.

Most of the seedlings were sourced from local markets etc.

Any help identifying and proposing remedies would be much appreciated.

Do you have sugar cane growing nearbye ?
Looks like borers . They damage and rot gets in , really nothing can be done unless you want to use strong systemic poison

Local nursery says caused by cold weather. The moist fibers expand during cold or freezing temps, causes bark to break off. Keep feeding with palm food, should continue to grow.

I had the same/similar rotting occur on my Bangalow thats been in large tubs for 35 years now 6mt tall - was a puzzle to me - i tht I caused it by pushing trunk over and rolling the pot to move the heavy beast - LOL - I thought i somehow maybe stretched the fibres? Causing a weakness - still lives ok 5 years later.
