Bean leaf deformity (forum)

7 responses

Lissa starts with ...
I have some otherwise very healthy looking climbing bean plants but found some deformed leaves on them yesterday.

I've searched online without success to try to find the cause.

Can anyone give this problem a name for me please?

No sap suckers or other pests to be seen.

Very healthy plants actually (see pic)and I don't think it's anything to worry about as the fruit has been prolific and healthy. Just curious mainly.

I do what Gumnut does and just pull off the affected leaves.

Hi Julie. The original seed were given to me by a young gardener called James who has since left our online gardening group http://brisbanelocalfood.ning.com/

Seeing as I have no idea what the original name is, we call them James' Beans :) They're such a good reliable cropper I've shared seed with heaps of people.

I have a heap here drying from the current crop if you would like some posted?

Thanks, but I was given beans called Italian runner beans (don't know the real name) which are doing well. Best I've ever grown!

I have to check them every day, and can hardly keep up with them. I may have to freeze some.
