It reminds me of the japanese cubic watermelons grown in boxes.They are easy to pack.I think I prefer my fruit to look natural but it might be interesting to do novelty ones a few times.

It's easier to do with bamboo because it grows so fast. I bought it at a garage sale a long time ago; apparently they can be quite expensive.

It could be done with any fast growing woody plant or tree I imagine.The mold (or is that mould?) would ne the most important part of the equation needing strength,easy removal and a good shape.
