How do I care for my mang tree. It was here when I moved 3 years ago. About 2 years old then, or had been planted in the garden 2 years before. Got badly froted the first winter, recovered well and I had 4 mangoes last year. Very badly frosted this year. Also have what I have been told, is either an ice cream bean or a sapote. How can I tell what it is, incidentally it was also badly frosted this year but is putting out new shoots now.

Young trees benefit from fairly regular applications of nutrients. Initially, young trees need more nitrogen but as they mature they need more potassium and phosphate. Try a fertilizer that also supplies the micronutrients, especially iron. Seaweed and organic fish fertilizers give good results also . However too much fertilizer can delay and reduce fruiting. Additional moisture from flowering until fruit ripening can improve fruit quality. Very humid weather favours Anthracnose and poor fruit set.
From Susanna Lyles - Discovering Fruit and Nuts.
To identify your mystery try an internet search in the image section, put in Inga edulis to see if it is an ice cream bean, if it is not try the same with the sapotes.
