Cucumber plants dying (forum)

Could please anybody tell me what is wrong with my cucumber plants ? Their leaves are turning brown and then dying. Fruit's skin is also a bit rough and brown. They get plenty of water. I have also tried epsom salts. They get fertilised regularly. Sunlight is plenty. And this is a slow process. I would have thought if it was bacterial or fungal infection, they would have been long dead. Any ideas ?

How about the lettuce at the bottom of pic2 ? They are in the same pot soil, and they look a bit wilted too ??? If thats so it may be soil/watering problem. Some times planter soil can become water repellant.
I would check under the mulch for soil moisture. Owise check underside of leaves for tiny pests.

Soil is not too bad. The bed is self wicking. So I thought water should be plenty.
I did note some small insects on the leaves. They looked like ants but slightly different, perhaps. I have tried an insecticide but they keep on coming back. Could that be the cause ? And what should I do about it ? Thank you very much.
