feijoa disease (forum)

feijoa disease starts with ...
Hi, our first small crop of feijoas has about half of them with soft rotty brown skin before they ripen.
Any ideas

Could be the Sun or wrong position. Try moving it. Are you feeding it enough/too much? Or, is it soft & rotten brown Inside as well? Mum had this problem once with her Feijoa's. It turned out to be caused by a grub. If this might be the case, Try spraying your plants with 'soapy water',the same as you do for roses.Use Dishwashing/or BathWater for this. It won't hurt the plant at all!

Eric & Jackie,, That's OK. I did say (I think) that I was only goiing on what mum as grown. I don't have them myself. You might also try a feeding of Seasol,or Thrive,or 'Yates'Slow Release Fertilizer. I don't know if it will help,but it couldn't hurt. (that's what I call "chicken soup gardening".)
