Grumichama not flowering (forum)

I have a grumichama between 3 - 4 years old around 2 meters in height that has never flowered. It gets full sun, plenty of water year round and fertiliser each Spring. I also give it extra potassium at different intervals. The tree looks healthy with dark green leaves. Does anyone know if this tree will ever bloom? Or should I pull it out and start afresh with a new tree.

Good news trikus :) I am looking forward to mine this year! Juneli - the tree may be too young yet..? but it should be close - mine was 4yrs old and it's first crop was only a dozen or so.

My other tree hasn't flowered yet - it's younger - I am hoping this year - but likely next year.

I pruned my older tree at the wrong time last year and missed out on a crop (boo hoo!!)

I have found my yellow grumichama responds to abuse.I never fertilize or water and routinely bang it with the lawn mower.Since it hit the dirt it has been a machine pumping out the fruit but right now is its biggest flowering time followed by the most bountiful crop of the year. You'd hock those up those small purple, big seeded types in horror if you had a large fruited sweet yellow first.

The yellows are true blue and not 'yella' at all when it comes to being bold.David I'm glad that there are some survivors.I won't keep planting a zillion seeds of everything just a few rarer or better plants.

My 4 year old tree had a dozen or so fruits, then the next year there were 150 or more fruit. The flavour was better the second harvest and may improve next time.

The fruit flavour and crop size improves with age.Environmental factors also have a role.

That's good to know guys, thanks :) I have also found that the very first crop from a some of my trees is not always the best either...(eg: my first Italia grape crop was pretty sour - after that it's been as it should - great)
