Wood for cuttings is generally considered either a soft wood (green), a semi hard wood or hard wood. I don't know much about kiwi fruit - but maybe similar to a grape vine cutting?
I guess it depends on the time of the cutting and where u take it from. U should be ok with a semi to hard wood powder.
