Could someone please advise me whether the
lychee Bosworth 3 or the lychee Wai Chee would be better for Brisbane climate. The description indicates either would suit this area but I thought there may be someone with first hand experience who could advise me. Many thanks!

Hi lynn.
I have a Wai Chee that I'm growing here about an hour away from you, and it's doing really well. It's about 5 years old and is quite slow growing as it's only just over a metre high....but has set it's first fruit this year, which we are currently eating. Have had no problems with pests (it is covered) or diseases etc, but I find the seed is quite big, so not much to eat....but it's still very tasty.

Hello Paula,
Thank you so much for the reply. I always think it is so helpful to know of others experiences. The Wai Chee looks lovely. It is certainly laden with fruit. Thank you so much for sending the photo as well. Thanks for your advice, Lynn!

I can't wait to grow Lychee here, they are sooo yummy. It's great to see your pic as I was wondering how they grew. I had in my mind they were like a passionfruit vine for some reason. I had a look at them out at a fruit nurserie recently and the tag said temps had to drop below 10 to get fruit. The guy there told me that was rubbish and that they fruit very well in SE tropical Qld Northern NSW. I'm pretty sure it was the Wai Chee. Good Luck

Hello Karen and Paul,
Sounds like Wai Chee will be the one for me to get. I have room for only one tree so felt I had to "get it right". I wouldn't think it needs the chilly temperature. I haven't heard that before. They certainly grow well on the road in to Hervey Bay, there are a couple of particularly large trees which fruit every year. I don't know what variety they are though. Many thanks for the feedback! Lynn.
