Well mine seedlings are 2 cms in about 5 weeks, but I dont consider that to bad given there are 20-30 in a top as I haven't pricked them out.
Until they are pricked out, set their roots and get some decent warm growing weather do expect miracles.
I am no passion fruit expert so Cant comment on cold region vine types. But I would suggest you get a grafted one anyway as you will get fruit 1-2 years earlier. If your seedlings are actually decent they can/will replace the bought one in 3-4 years I would imagine.
Cheers,

thank you for your reply
i think there not growing well because were heading into winter and overnight it gets to 1-3 degrees.
if my seedlings cant handle the winter I will try planting some more in spring. it took me a couple of weeks just to germinate the seeds so mabey grafted varity is the way to go

Hi ran - don't quote me but i think it's the purple/black passionfruit that are the most cold tolerant - you may need to protect it from frost for the first winter at least.
As passionfruit fruit on new growth they are generally pruned in spring to encorouge the new growth. You could prune out any frost damaged foliage then (leave it on over winter to help protect the vine) I would be really interested to know if they are grown in Canberra, as they are subtropical.
If you seedlings are the black one's then maybe pot them up for this winter and plant them out in spring - they will have a summer to get a good head start. If you have a masonary wall or such to grow it on - this would give the bonus of extra warmth during the day and night. There are forum topics on frost that have all sorts of ideas to try.

im trying to grow 4 types of passionfruit from seeds which are cold hardy i got them of ebay and they are maypop, banna passionfruit, blue crown passionfruit, and black/purple passionfruit. so far i have at least two of each except for the black passionfruit wich none of them have come up. im going to grow them agienst a big stone wall so that should help them. I havent heard much about people growing them in canberra but im trying hard because i love passionfruit

Hi ran, have a look at the other passionfruit threads on this forum. In my experience grafted Nelly Kelly causes more problems than it's worth. The top seems to die quite easily and the rootstock is incredibly invasive. Seedling black passionfruit is a much better bet. Easy to raise from seed (plant it from a passionfruit before the seeds dry out) or daleys have them for sale. As amanda says a bit of protection the first year is helpful.

yes i have heard alot about the grfted passionfruit problem but I think that because it frost here the runners from the root stock would die. the black passionfruit that i am trying to germinate is deciduous which would be great here in canberra but i cant get it to germinate which is a bit disapointing.
i will protect the seedling i have so far from frost until they ar established.
i bought a non grafted passionfruit during summer and for some reson after 2 weeks it just died.
