Paw Paw Disease ?,
Wayne about 2 years ago "Annette Macfarlane" in her Sunday Mail column wrote of a Paw Paw disease which i had been experiencing here in Bundaberg for some time before that. But she wrote that the disease was common only in South East Qld. All our trees have been affected and it always starts at the top of the tree and rots away the healthy tree. We have tried cutting off the top but to no avail. We had some lovely bearing trees but all have auccomed to it but we keep on planting in hope. Plese see the paper cutting i am including on this subject.

Bazza,
I've read that article, WOW, now that it has been successfully developed the new paw paw species with resistant to all these pestilence disease, I'll bet it must be really expensive once it is on the market.
17 yrs. research and experimentation, wow, the patience .

By Gee! they certainly are impressive looking fruit Bazza, I wonder what the name they go by is.
I should have chosen my heading more carefully as I'm now convinced that the stems are being stung, so I'm wondering if Gall Wasps would attack it because there is a citrus tree close by.
You can see in this photo the reminence of several stings so I'm guessing that the grubs are forming inside the stem and then eating their way out at the trunk. I could be totally wrong of course.
