Hi all,
I am French and I cultivate pepino but the cultivar we have in FRANCE makes only little pepinos (about 8-10cm...); so I search a species with big fruits: "the pepino colossal"........ whitch comes from Australia or New Zealand (about 15 to 20 cm per pepino !!!)
Is anyone have this cultivar ??????
Ty.

The varieties in Australia can grow to 1kg or more in weight - I can save some seeds if you would like to try and grow them in France.

You're wrong dude, that's not a pepino. Pepino is cucumber.

Put a new name to that alien fruit, but not pepino.

Pepino is not cucumber, cucurbit, melon or related. It has purple flower, no spikes and is related to tomato and potato. They are great as they don't cause burping like melons and cucumbers. Whats best is mine have ripened this month in Tassie. In this cool weather its really nice to have fresh sweet fruit picked from my garden. Also just snip off the tip of a branch and dunk it in water. The roots will form just above the water level. I have made many rooted cuttings this way.
I believe that Pepinos originally came from South America.
