Prellin starts with ... Hi Can anyone provide some advice on my banana plant. Its been growing for 3 years and never fruited yet. The trunk is soft and just happened recently. We where getting 2-5 degrees morning temps in the last 2 weeks of May. We had removed 3 suckers around April 2023. Not sure if it got infected then. If it is some sort of soil bacteria, how do I remedy the soil if I have to take out the plants. Click to see the video. Thanks | About the Author Prellin NEW BEITH,4124,QLD 8th June 2023 3:07am #UserID: 33211 Posts: 1 View All Prellin's Edible Fruit Trees |

Edward3 says... Hi Prellin. There is no video link to click. When you say "soft", I assume you think it started to rot? I was growing this banana plant in Sydney and it did take a few years before it fruited. The fruit was quite tasty but it didn't produce much. I am now growing one of its suckers and it is very slow. | About the Author Edward3 CARLINGFORD,2118,NSW 14th June 2023 3:21pm #UserID: 1655 Posts: 172 View All Edward3's Edible Fruit Trees |

Malos says... The redacca is not very cold hardy same as the dwarf Cavendish. Blue Java handles cold well same as pisang cylon and ducasse I get little to no frost but both the Dacca and dwarf can get rot where at the end of the cold season I saw back till the point of no black rotten core. They will shot back up but in 4 years both have never fruited. The rest I have imcl lady finger and gold have fruited and only 1 lady finger got some rot in middle after a few 0 degree nights and rain. I think water sits from dew in the leaves where the new shoots come and gets so cold it causes them to go white or rot black | About the Author Malos LOWOOD,4311,QLD 26th July 2023 6:02am #UserID: 33277 Posts: 3 View All Malos's Edible Fruit Trees |
Maali says... I was able to get fruit in 2nd year of planing here in Blacktown area (Western Sydney). Smaller fruit size and taking it's sweet time to ripen off the tree. Don't know the taste yet. I can see they're quite soft and sensitive to cold than other varities (Grand Naine). Also seeing the smaller ones getting rot and we had a very mild winter so far. | About the Author Maali QUAKERS HILL,2763,NSW 7th August 2023 11:51am #UserID: 27349 Posts: 4 View All Maali's Edible Fruit Trees |
