Sick Persimmon Advice

    6 responses

Hi all,

I have 2 persimmons (Fuyu and Ichikikijiro) planted amongst apples and various stone fruit. The other trees are all thriving (despite extreme heat!) but my poor persimmons are looking quite sickly. Initially the leaves started yellowing and now they are turning brown and dying around the edges. I have tried adjusting soil ph (was previously slightly alkaline), and adding iron to soil (thought yellowing might be chlorosis). Unfortunately my camera is out of action at the moment so can't post pictures, but will see if I can borrow a camera over the weekend.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?!

Thanks in advance

Hi CJ
How much water are they getting as young plants like a good watering, enriched soil but drainage must be very good . I have a Fuyu only 1 yr old and it had had brown dry edges on the leaves so I increase water and it has come good. They recommend a fertilizer with an NPK 6:10:6 approx.

Hi Amanda, that is pretty much exactly what my tree looks like except the leaves are a bit yellower in the middle. Will up the watering ASAP!
