I can't find any specific info on this variety of Choko. Anyone have any experience with this cv? I can't imagine it being vastly different from any other choko, a choko is a choko, is a choko, right?

In the late 1970s I imported these from Steve Spangler in California but subsequently lost them. They were called Perlita. Probably from Mexico.

I only need one Denise, you are welcome to the other, if you want to repopulate your place with them again?

John I read that they do best if you have two planted close together plus they need 12 hours of sun? I don't know if that's true but that would explain why my white choko is not doing well. Nothing gets so much sun here not even me and I have legs.
Also they say chokos need a lot of water?

Oh, thanks Mary. I have shade problems here as well, the block is smothered in mature spotted gums. I think I'll keep them and plant them out when it warms up after winter. Would they keep better in the crisper? or on the bench in the shed?
I'm not after a huge harvest, so if you can use one of them, it's yours.

Thanks, John; I am struggling trying to get mine to thrive. I think they keep best in a dark place so I guess the shed. They'll sprout when they're ready. You ought to keep both to see if they perform better with company. :)

Hi John, if you decide you really don't want two I would like to give it a home. I find mine sprout well in the cupboard under the stairs, then plant them in a pot and keep them in a frostfree place until spring then plant out. They are very nice sauteed with some garlic and butter when small.
Denise, what was it about these that made you import them ? (as opposed to the ordinary green variety).

Mary, the fruit was very sparce on the vine they come off. Could be because it's a community garden?
Next time I'm there, I'll see how many actual vines are growing, it's growing over a large arbour.
I can get a couple more if I really need to. Jantina, I'll get it away on Monday.

John I was just looking for reasons why mine did't thrive. More water seems to have got it going. Also I read that it might take a few years to come good. I always thought they grow like weeds.
