Strange strawberries (forum)

I have some strange looking strawberries this season. The seeds seem to be germinating on the fruit, tiny green leaves growing all over them. Is this a temporary condition or do I need to start from scratch? Last autumn they appeared and tasted normal.

Hi Phil, I have had the occasional strawberry like that and it was not an ongoing thing, just one of natures many anomalies.

I got a bunch of them. Did you plant them near anything from the milkweed family? Every plant in my garden was affected and I planted different varieties of strawberries. They also sent out daughters and they are the same way. Let me know if anyone knows anything on this. Mine are really sweet and huge. They best tasting strawberries I have ever had.
