transplant passion fruit (forum)

Hi All, We also have a few passionfruit vines in the same patch. This one is by far the happiest, again I think this one came up from the compost soil. Could we transplant it to the new site or just start fresh with a new vine there? If we do transplant it should we cut it right back first?
Thankyou for your patience with my novice questions :-) I love the forum and I'm learning so much from you all. Thanks

Have a look at the above links guys, they may be useful to you. They say you can also grow from cuttings and also graft yellow to purple or vice versa.

I recalled someone telling me to plant passionfruit on top of some liver or similar... google backs it up:

I wrote this on another thread ages ago, but I think liver etc used to be a hell of a lot cheaper (and more available) many years ago. On farms it was probably given to the dogs!
I would go for the cheaper option of blood and bone, manure, or Dynamic Lifter today. My ex-passionfruit thrived on this, till it died a natural death at about 6 years old.

I saw it on Gardening Australia also, The old duck (forget her name) planted a new passionfruit on top of a whole liver.

Hi,
I used to live in a rented house. I trimmed back and dug up the passionfruit (panama) when we bought a house and moved it to the new house (I did plant it on a liver, apparently passionfruits need a lot of iron and it can keep them going for ages). It has been going great guns ever since for the last two years.
Diana.

Thanks for the advice everyone I'm definately going to take him with us and I think I'll take his little mate also and see how they get on. Interesting about the liver theory I think I'll throw one in for good measure :-)
My sister in law in NZ has had three babies and after each one she has taken home the placenta. Last I heard they were all still on ice in the deep freeze haha perhaps I could suggest she try a passionfruit vine - should be plenty of iron in those membranes :-)
