Is there anything you can put around fruit trees to stop white ants from eating them, apart from the usual white ant chemicals

Termites have a nest with a queen . Find the nest (it is ususlly easy to find as there are "blow holes " in the bark where flights of new termites exit and also "mud tracks" found on effected trees)The nest will be generally no more than a metre off the ground. You then destroy the nest . If you have no ideas on how ,let me know.PS Are they really termites not ants ,say
