Miracle Fruit
Synsepalum dulcificum
Unique fruit containing a natural sweetner. When consumed, affects the taste buds enabling high acid foods to be eaten without discomfort.
African shrub to around 4m tall.
FEATURES: White flowers are followed by small, fleshy, oval fruit which is red when ripe. Fruit contains a naturally sweetened pulp which when eaten, affects the taste buds allowing high acid foods to be consumed without discomfort for up to 2 hours.
CONDITIONS: Prefers well drained soil in full sun. Suited to warm tropical climates.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Plant in a sheltered area of the garden. Fertilise during the growing season.
