The leaves are best added to the recipe at the end of the cooking process and either left to steam with the lid on or made into a sauce or dressing. Enthusiasts describe the distilled oil from this tree as 'more lemony than lemon' and its used extensively to scent confectionery, perfumes, aromatherapy oil and food flavourings.

Commonly used as a garnish the aroma is zestier than lemons or limes. This variety has some cold sensitivity and is best grown in sub-tropical to tropical areas.
