Versatile and ornamental, this fig is an eye catching addition to subtropical and tropical gardens. It is also a very popular pot plant as it has unusual and attractive foliage. Native to the forests of west Africa where it starts life as an epiphyte high in the canopy. It send aerial roots down to the ground that eventually envelop and strangle the host tree. It is commonly grown as a free standing tree where it grows to about 15m. Leaves vary in shape but are narrow in the middle and resemble a lyre or fiddle, they are large, up to 45cm long and 30cm wide. Fiddle-leaf Figs are frost tender and suited to subtropical or tropical gardens.
