The fermented pod of this climbing orchid is harvested from the Vanilla Vine or orchid, an aromatic sweet scents used to flavour cakes, and perfumes. Must be hand pollinated. The only insect capable of pollinating the blossom is the Melipona, a bee (see video) , native only to Mexico so all plants must be hand pollinated within 12 hours of the flower opening. The pods take nine month to develop.

Bamboo - Sweet

Young shoots are consumed as a vegetable. The culm is very useful as a building material and for making musical instruments and other handicrafts. Large, tufted, woody bamboo with dark green culms of 15-22 m high and 5-10 cm in diameter. Culm internodes are thin-walled and are on average 4050 cm long. The lower part of the culms develop aerial roots from the nodes. It is a dense clumper, native to Malaysia.
