The fragrant fruits of the citron are highly variable in shape and texture. They can be oblong or oval, rough or smooth. The rind is very thick and when the peel is candied peel it is used in the food industry and as a common ingredient in fruit cakes, plum pudding, sweet rolls and candies. If fully ripened on the tree the fruits are very aromatic and yellow, they can be placed in a bowl to scent a room. Sensitive to frost, the foliage and fruit can also be damaged by intense heat and drought. Citron has been cultivated since ancient times, and is still much revered today for cultural and religious reasons.

Green Sapote

A close relative of the Mamey Sapote but more compact and cold hardy. The green fruit turns to gold when ripe and has a much superior, sweeter flavour to the Mamey. Seeds can be roasted and eaten. Good drainage is essential.

Mango - Kwan

Similar to the Nam doc mai, but twice the size. It has elongated fruit of a consistent light yellow and good mango flavour. This variety has good disease tolerance of Anthracnose and is generally a heavy cropper. Performs very well in south eastern Qld and the northern coast of NSW. As with all mangoes, flowering needs to coincide with a good period free of rain as the flowers will not set unless humidity is low.

Dwarf Apple - Red Fuji

The aromatic flesh of the red fuji is tinged with a delicate honey-pineapple flavour, sweet and aromatic. The crisp, crunchy flesh is very juicy and the fruits hold well on the tree. The skin ripens from greenish yellow to a dull russett red. Partially Self pollinating, pollinates with the red delicious, and pink lady. Fuji will perform in both cold and warmer temperate climates.
