Pistachio - Sirora - Female

$79.00 ($79.00-$89.00 choose a size)

High yielding female tree, pair with a male for pollination. Grows to be a small tree or shrub. Best suited to areas with cold winters and hot dry summers, requiring 1000 hours below 7.5 degrees in the winter. Well suited to hot inland areas of southern Australia. Fruits ripen earlier than the Kerman selection, extending harvests. Summer and autumn need to be dry to prevent fungal problems. Pistachios are dioecious meaning male and females flowers are produced on separate trees, one of each will be required for fruit set. Spreading habit, wider than it is tall. Sirora was developed in Australia by CSIRO and has shown to be a more even bearer than other varieties which tend toward biennial cropping, meaning they alternately bear lots of nuts one year, then very little the following year

$89.00 ($89.00-$89.00 choose a size)

Add some gourmet to your garden! The quince is valued for its high pectin content and is used frequently in jams, jellies and cosmetics. This fruit is one of the few that must be cooked as it is too tart, hard and unpalatable to eat raw. The quince tree has been cultivated by people for thousands of years. Originating from Turkey and Iran this is a fruit with a fascinating history, it features strongly in the history and mythology of both Greece and Rome. Trees are very long lived and have a beautiful, gnarly twisted appearance, they are exceptionally hardy and can withstand both periods of dry and severe cold. 'Smyrna' is a Turkish variety of Quince with extremely large fruit, light yellow flesh and bright yellow skin. It can be grown as an attractive tree (or multi-stemmed shrub) and has dark green foliage and a very showy bloom
