Banana - Lady Finger

The skin is thin and the flesh is very sweet. 12 - 20 fingers are borne in each hand with each bunch having 10-14 hands. Lady Fingers are best eaten fresh or used in desserts as they are much sweeter than Cavendish. This variety is showing some promise growing in cooler urban areas, like Sydney and Melbourne

Loquat - Nagasakiwase

The best Japanese variety so far, it has deep orange flesh, high flesh/seed ratio and very sweet flavour. Earliest variety to ripen. Thinning fruit will enhance fruit size. The Nagasakiwase often has 2 crops a year in the subtropics. The first crop in April / May then again in August. We have found by cincturing in summer, the August crop has a much larger crop and better fruit size.

The Fig - Blue Provence or Ficus carica is suited to subtropical environments as well as warm and cold temperate regions. The skin is bluish in colour and bears later in the season. Known for being sweeter than other fig varieties.

Orange - Cara Cara Blood Navel

A red fleshed navel, this variety was discovered in Venezuela in 1976. It has pink to red flesh similar to Star Ruby grapefruit. In South Africa it matures slightly earlier than Washington navel. It is sweet and the fruit often grows quite large. It is also a seedless variety that looks fantastic. The fruit is very large and is becoming a favourite in taste all around Australia. Quickly becoming the Blood Orange Tree to choose.
