Apricot - Glengarry

Heavy cropping variety with small pale golden fruit and a slight blush. The tree is large, vigorous and heavy bearing. One of a few varieties that will crop in the subtropics. The fruits are very flavourful and a summer stonefruit delight. Prune branches during winter. Apricots grow best in full sun positions with good drainage and a regular application of fertiliser during the growin season. Fruit Fly and birds can be a problem and we recommend quality netting to cover the tree that is not harmful to wildlife.

Low Chill Apricot selected by the late Carlo Berra. Medium size, brightly orange coloured skin, with sweet, juicy fruit. Suitable for subtropical climates with about 400 hours of chill or even less. This variety crops abundantly in Kyogle.

Dwarf Mulberry - Black

This mulberry has a very low chill factor making it ideal for our subtropical climate. Pruning after fruiting allows it to be kept under 3mtrs, and also encourages multiply cropping throughout the summer. It is best to pick the fruit when ripe, as it doesn't ripen further off the tree. A benefit of a mulberry tree is that the fruit ripens over an extended period of time unlike other fruit that often ripens all at once. The fruits of the black mulberry, considered the tastiest and most versatile of the mulberries are large and juicy with a good balance of sweetness and tartness. The fruit of the dwarf black mulberry is the same as that on the large black mulberry that we all know and love. The fruit is large, resembling a blackberry, sweet and luscious. A selection originating from north Qld. As the name suggests it is a superb quality fruit. Tends to be seedless if not cross pollinated. Heavy bearing. Also called 'Chocolate Pudding Fruit'. Delicious Trees can be medium to large and cross pollination is beneficial for fruit set. New growth is a light lime green/yellow colour which darkens as the leaves mature.
