The fruit are tangy and refreshing with a delicate subtle sweetness, a fine balance between sweetness and acidity, producing an unusual taste sensation. Very moreish. Fruit should be picked mature, as it does not ripen further on storage. Originating from the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin in South America, the Bolivian name of the fruit is Achachairu and translated means honey kiss. A medium size shrub producing red to burgundy coloured fruits with clear or pink pearls of juice inside. The aroma of the fruits is similar to ruby grapefruit, and is perfect for cocktails and drinks, as well as cooking. Bears fruit from summer to autumn, with the fruits being ready to harvest when they come very easily off the branch without any effort. It is a great variety for growing in containers and in warm courtyards, and does best in full sun. Water thoroughly in spring and summer.

Fuyu is a semi-dwarf variety, well suited to growing in small backyards and can be kept to 2m with pruning. The fruit is large and flat, orange-red in colour with a sweet, mild flavour. Great eaten crunchy but just luscious when left to go soft. Besides producing delicious fruit, Persimmons are highly ornamental with their beautiful autumn foliage. Non astringent, so can be eaten when still hard. When young, protect from hot afternoon sun, and when dormant, from wet conditions. Seedless when grown on their own. If cross pollinating with another variety they can have seeds in the flesh as shown in the display picture.

The Lemon Myrtle occurs naturally throughout coastal Qld rainforests. It is a spectacular ornamental tree due to both its appearance and the superb fragrance of its flowers and leaves. The leaves and flowers are used in sweet and savoury dishes or as a refreshing tea. However as boiling or baking often reduces the flavour. The leaves are best added to the recipe at the end of the cooking process and either left to steam with the lid on or made into a sauce or dressing. It is usually the older and fully hardened-off leaves that are harvested for use. Enthusiasts describe the distilled oil from this tree as 'more lemony than lemon' and its used extensively to scent confectionery, perfumes, aromatherapy oil and food flavourings.

This strong net is ideal for covering most fruit trees and vegetable gardens. It is also called Bee netting, as it is used to exclude Bees from pollinating fruit trees that need to be kept seedless. It is UV stabilised and it will last years if stored after each seasons fruit protection. It is a 50gsm weave. This net can easily be cut into smaller nets if desired. Width is 6m and can also cut to a specified length in multiples of 6m only: eg 6x12m, or 6x18m up to a maximum of 6x30m. We highly recommended this for the exclusion of insects, birds and especially Fruit Fly. Fruit Fly females are large being 8mm long and sting fruit to lay their eggs only a few weeks before ripening. They shouldn't be confused with the smaller 'vinegar fly' which only attacks overripe and fallen fruit and are very hard to exclude even with 2mm netting.
