The best Japanese variety so far, it has deep orange flesh, high flesh/seed ratio and very sweet flavour. Earliest variety to ripen. Thinning fruit will enhance fruit size. The Nagasakiwase often has 2 crops a year in the subtropics. The first crop in April / May then again in August. We have found by cincturing in summer, the August crop has a much larger crop and better fruit size.

Also known as the Horseradish tree or Tree of Life. Possibly one of the most useful trees in the world, it produces long green pods that have been compared to a cross between peanuts and asparagus. The peeled roots are used as a substitute for horseradish and the edible leaves make a highly nutritious vegetable. Claims are made that its tiny leaves contains 7 times the Vit C of oranges, 4 times the Vit A of Carrots, 4 times the Calcium of milk, 3 times the Potassium of Bananas, and 2 times the protein of yogurt. The roots have also been documented as useful in many folk remedies. It originates in India and has spread in popularity to many parts of Asia, Central and South America, Africa and the Pacific. In Africa it has been also called the Miracle Tree with so many uses. This tree has delicate foliage and attractive pale yellow flowers. The slender, semi -deciduous, perennial tree, to about 10 m tall with drooping branches. Best kept pruned under 2mts as its the leaves that is what is best used in cooking. Thrives in subtropical and tropical climates, flowering and fruiting freely and continuously. Grows best on a dry sandy soil. Makes an ideal shade tree with high drought resistance. Bunya Nut

A handsome large tree for parks and gardens. This extraordinary bush food produces large edible nuts inside large cones. They are delicious roasted or pressure cooked. Then slice them and shuck the kernel and use in a wide range of recipes. The trees produce dense shade and are cold tolerant. A symmetrical pine suitable for container growing when young as they a slow growing to start. Trees take up to 15 years to produce the large cones, which ripen mid summer. No-one should stand or park under one of these at that time, as they fall from a height when ripe. These trees were and still are very important to the cultural practices of First Nations peoples of the East Coast especially southern Queensland, producing bumper harvests every 3 years, drawing peoples to the region to share.
Longan - Seedling

A close relative to the Lychee tree but much larger, stronger and more cold tolerant. The fruit is deliciously sweet. Seed selected from the superior varieties. Even though not true to type the benefits include a vigorous tree making it more suitable for marginal climates. Cincturing at about 3-4 years of age can force earlier fruiting than normally expected from seedling trees.
