A very popular dense growing, sweet variety similar in taste to tahitian lime and grapefruit. Red to maroon colour skin with light green to pink pearls. Fruiting may occur year round in warm climates. The zesty flavoured pearls of this finger lime are best used in desserts, salads, cocktails or with yogurt. The fruit has a long shelf life lasting many weeks in the fridge. The bushes will grow to be a dense screen so may be used in urban areas for privacy. The aroma of the fruits is similar to ruby grapefruit, and is perfect for cocktails and drinks, as well as cooking. Bears fruit from summer to autumn, with the fruits being ready to harvest when they come very easily off the branch without any effort. Very low chill tree for the subtropics. The fruits of this mulberry are large and juicy with a good balance of sweetness and tartness. Prune your tree after fruiting to keep under 3mtrs, and to encourage multiply cropping throughout the summer. It is best to pick the fruit when ripe, as it doesn't ripen further off the tree. Fruit ripens over time, giving an extended harvest of delicious fruit. When not devoured fresh it is ideal to use in jams, wines and mulberry pies. Remember it makes a wonderful temporary dye for children faces and hands!
