Very attractive slow growing tree, with dark green leathery leaves. Native to wet forests of Central America.Oval shaped fruits are produced in summer reaching up to 2cm. The white pulp has a pleasant subacid aromatic flavour, with a similar flavour to the Achacha.Very ornamental making an excellent display potted plant. While the tree may not produce fruit in colder regions, the leaves are quite cold hardy and can tolerate winter conditions. May require protection from frosts when young. Japanese Raisin

A fast growing tree that produces small raisin like fruit stalks which can be eaten fresh, cooked or dried. The Raisin Tree is deciduous and can grow to a height of 21m but in the open is more commonly around 9m with a single trunk and a rounded head. They have handsome, large, glossy green, cordate leaves which can hang from the stem. The flowers are small but are clustered together in great masses and are cream in colour.
