Hello,I would like to find out which carnivorous plants (that can catch flies) I can grow in Sydney West where temperature can drop outside to around 0 or even 0 Celsius during some winters. I want to grow those plants inside my house so the temperature will not drop to those extreme low temperatures towards 0 Celsius degrees. Where I can buy seeds for those kind of plants? Thank you in advance for reply. Best regards, John

Hi Johncobb,
Sarracenia leucophylla and it’s hybrids will decimate blow flies like green bottle flies. But my experience has been that there is nothing that specialises in capturing the annoying bush flies and that these are merely a random by catch.
Sarracenia are easy to grow in 50/50 peat moss and perlite. They can also be grown in floating pond pots filled with expanded clay. They prefer to have very wet roots sitting in water. The main key to growing them is to avoid hard tap water and anything containing lime. Rain water is best for growing these plants.
