I purchased this fruit at an Asian fruit store awhile ago for $10 a kilo and it was absolutley fantastic to eat. They didn't have a name for it and I thought it was a larger version of the Loquat but it tastes so much better.I've never seen this plant for sale anywhere so Big Kev if you manage to get your hands on a plant do post the name of your source .
Thanks

Hi Big Kev and Michael,
I will be in Cairns very soon, I will check it out and alert you.
The plantation is not far from Townville so some nurseries or some one in the tropical North may know about this fruit.
This website mentions about this fruit so it is a good chance it is grown in Cairns too.

I have been looking for other Garcinia species for a few years now . None seem to be available . This orchard was set up with there own specially imported seeds no doubt, and as it is only the second crop I imagine no one would have propagated them yet . We will have to wait for next release of fruit . Are they taking advance orders ?

I have many species of Garcinia. I think I have this Achacha as distingusihed by its light brown new leaves as opposed to dark red new leaves of other Garcinia.
