Has anyone ever heard of this fruit ? . Very popular in the small area of columbia it grows in . Very creamy and tasty and reminiscent of durian so I am told .
Little grown out of its habitat . There are a few trees around here that have yet to bear any fruit even after 25 years .

Trikus, How big and how old are the trees that you have seen? One website says medium sized trees to 60ft tall. Other pages say 2m tall.

I have not seen the trees yet , but we have been promised a field trip sometime next year when the place has been cleaned up. Owner mentioned he was trialing some grafted onto Matisia rootstock .

You know something is pretty rare when you get only a few google hits . We are so lucky around here to have ardent collectors like David Chandlee , Kerry Macavoy , Peter Salleras , Bob Brighton and Eric Krone.
Peter is featured on the cover of latest Grass Roots , and the next Rare Fruits Australia will have an article about some of the great durians recently imported from Borneo .
These people have very large properties with thousands of amazing rare fruit trees. Many destroyed by Cyclone Larry but some are growing back from the stumps or have marcots or grafts .

Trikus - let's hope that all these interesting fruiting plants don't get destroyed b4 someone/anyone has the chance to collect them.
I really enjoy your posts - even if I have no idea about the plants/fruits u (and some others here) are talking about!? FNQ has the best chance (climate wise) of saving some of these tropical species.
I can remember a time for eg (as will many others) when avodaco's were a rare and expensive luxury??

Where exactly is it grown in Colombia?
They are tropical but have different climate zones according to height.
There is tierra fria (I think Bogota) tierra templada y tierra caliente. Day length is similar during the year.
