Hi Guys,
for all its worth, somehow peaches and nectarines and almonds are some how related!!!! the reason I bring this up is that in the late 60's my late father
[ Grafting from the old school style, no professional training, and using techniques learnt through practice,] planted a Nectarine tree which produced heaps of fruit, but being a short lived tree, died within 5-6 years. Anyway what he did was graft a nectarine onto almond rootstock and that tree produced huge nectarines for probably 25yrs.
My regret is that I nether bothered to pay attention to what he did. I WISH I DID!!!

It's not that amazing if you have seen an Almond tree, they look just like a peach tree and the almond seed doesn't taste that much different to a peach seed either.

Nectarine and peach trees can easily live 30 years as seedlings too, 5-6 years was just unlucky I would say. All ours are almost 20 years old and all still alive. Grafting the prunus family is pretty easy, you should give it go!
