Apple insect problem (forum)

Please help. We are only new to growing fruit trees and have found this infestation on one of our backyard apple trees.
Any advice on what it is and how we can control it would be much appreciated.
The trees were on our vacant block of land when we purchased it 18 mths ago. The fruit never matured last year and the tree was a bit out of control. So over winter we did some pruning to get a 'vase; or 'wine glass' shape. The tree began flowering around a month or so ago and now we have these tiny little insects infesting one of the branches.
What do you think it is and how do we control it? Have had a bit of a look on the net and thought it may be apple aphids, but not really sure.

Thanks
Riffa

They look like aphids. I only have small trees at the moment so just squash mine. There are lots of different sprays you can buy to kill them.
