Apple trees in Winter shade? (forum)

I would like to plant my apple trees in a position that has full shade from the house in late Autumn and Winter but come late spring it ends up in full sun all day.
I'm in a sub tropical area so I have low chill apple varieties and I was told that as the apples have no leaves in winter the direct sun is less important but the shade could help reduce the temperature.
They will be espaliered along the driveway and against the house.
Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Hi cat5
I am in a similar situation. Except in Spring I’m only getting 6 hours of Sun. Around 10.30am-4.30pm.
Not sure if that is enough.
I’ll keep researching and let you know if I find anything.

I discovered that they don't need full sun in winter. I can't find the link right now but it was a credible source.
I took the plunge and planted them and will keep this thread updated!
