Appreciating Apple Berries! (forum)

Attention Mark.....

Following on from our previous tastings of the sausage shaped fruits of Billardiera scandens I have now found the best way to appreciate them.

I have discovered first hand and also had confirmed by another grower that the berries need to turn golden brown and feel soft and squishy like those in the pictures, before eating. Those ones we tried before were way too hard and green.

Kuranga has these ones on sale for $5.95, already fruiting in a small pot and the ripe ones taste just like stewed apples! Happy Birthday!

Had a feast of the appleberries yesterday, ate about a dozen that were left on the bush. They just fell off when touched so the ripeness was just perfect. Tasted like stewed apples, quite delicious, think thick gooey apple sauce. Made me smile while eating them so if you wanna bring out your inner child, just eat a handful of Appleberries!
