Are these both pear trees? (forum)

DASchindler starts with ...
My dad has a habit of planting seeds and not marking what he planted. He thought he planted two pear trees but one is growing with very curvy branches while the other is straight. Both appear to have spikes on the branches. Also are there any guesses to what kind of pear trees they might be, if they are pear trees? Don’t worry in the future I’m making him put labels on what he plants. Thanks for the help.
