Avocado Choquette (forum)

I have anChoquette avocado which I believe is growing quite well. This year is the first time it has had fruit buds on it.
I know this particular avocado can grow quite large and for that matter heavy. In regard to that, my query is: will the avocado be too heavy for the branches and as such snap them or will they be able to take the weight of those avocados ?
My son-in-law thinks they'll be too heavy and we should remove the buds, at least for this year. In contrast, I think since the branches on this type of avo tree are naturally hanging down, then they would readily take the weight.
What are the general thoughts on this ?

You could just remove most of the young fruit and leave just 1-2 fruit on each branch, but you'll find that most fruit will dropped off, especially on young avocado tree.

Thanks for the info, will take note when the fruit develops more, seeing if I need to remove any or it does this of its own accord...Cheers
