Hi there. I am new to this website and new to gardening. Unfortunately, I don't think Ill be helping anyone with solutions too much.

Anyway, I moved to a new property last year, and my wife and I only yesterday managed to get around and have a look at what kind of trees we have here. Many citrus trees, olives and others seem ok, however we have an avocado tree that is about 3m tall, and doesnt appear to have any fruit. Neither of us can recall it having such either.

It does have many of these 1 inch long things that appear to be seeds.

Can anyone kindly advise what may be the problem?

many thanks

Hi Squeegee,
No, not Avocado :-)
My guess is Pongamia pinnata, a tree that does ery well in arid , semi-arid tropics.
natural range is Nthn Aust , SE Asia and India.
Known as Poonga oil tree.
An oil can be pressed from the seeds and used for various industrial purposes.
It has been used for thousands of years for lighting, soapmaking and lubrication and is now used as a feedstock for biodiesel production.
other uses include compost/fertilizer (flowers) and fibre from the inner bark.

Speedy, Julie and Paula, thankyou all for your replies. The people before us left a map of what trees where where and it has been pretty accurate, and there was an avocado tree in this vacinity (not anymore I guess).

Thanks so much again!!!

Paul
