Avocado yellow leaves and brown marks (forum)

I bought a dwarf pimkerton avocado tree from Daley’s and really happy with it. Only issue is over the last three weeks the leaves have begun to turn brown and yellow after I planted it in the ground. It is the older leaves that seem to be changing. Any idea what it may be? I have attached a sample of the leaves.

hi Chris,
it could be due to wind and sun burn. I've had to put shade tubes over my avos in the ground to protect them from the wind and sun, as the weather has been a bit brutal. my seedlings in pots have been ok, as they've been grown in full sun - but planting out the grafted ones has required a bit more care with protection and watering. the older leaves seem to be the ones that suffer.

This time of year both my avo trees (wurtz and pinkerton) drop their old leaves and grow new ones.

Thanks. Will make sure I put up a 30% shade to stop sunburn. Plant still does not look good. Younger leaves on canopy seem to be light green and curling upward. Is it deficient in Naomi nutrient?

Chris2122 -- Keep it protected as it warms up - roots havnt had a chance to grow enough to do a flush as yet - heres some pics of what mine are doing - if growing outstanding they put on growth like a Tomato - fairly fast if roots are in perfect condition. I planted a Secondo in April and is flushing well now (plant in ground) (Avo with fruit has lost alot of leaves to do this flush and has no flowers this year as recovering from root rot issues and fungicide program ) others show leaves that will drop soon as roots use nutrients in leaves to do a flush so they yellow and fall - new ones grow - lots to learn growing Avos.

Thank you Mark. So sounds like it’s just that time of the year and is normal. My biggest fear was root rot or some sort of nutrient deficiency. Very young plant so want to make it has all it needs to grow into a healthy tree.
