'Backyard' Banana?? (forum)

About 15 years ago, and elderly aunt gave me a sucker of her small banana tree which I thought she called the "Backyard Banana". I'm sure she told me it had been specially bred to be small (for backyard growers!). It had beautiful creamy fruit a bit bigger than sugar bananas, but smaller than the Lady Fingers you can buy in Woolies. The phot attached is the one bunch I got off it before we moved house (without taking any of it with us). I am looking to grow it again but can't find any type of banana actually called the Backyard Banana. Would anyone know what that banana might have been? Thanks.

Hi!
The flavor profile might narrow it down.
I presume by sugar banana you mean a Pisang Ceylon and not a Lady Finger?
Could what your aunt had be a Dwarf Ducasse? (These are sometimes called sugar bananas, but they aren't as sweet as the Pisang). Dwarf Nathan is also a possibility.
Have you already knocked on the door of the new occupants and asked for a pup? People can be incredibly generous if you just ask!
:)
