Just a wild idea: Try sulphuric acid from Bunnings.

Are you asking for an organic poison? I would recommend digging them up to ensure there are no roots left to shoot from. Or smother them with many layers of cardboard. Cutting them off will eventually kill the plant so you can keep that up for a while.
I wouldn't think an acid would act systemically. I suspect being a very reactive substance that it would only produce superficial damage to the surfaces it is applied to.

Hi Happyearth, Do you want to keep a main banana plant but remove the suckers ? Or do you want to kill off all emerging bananas that are remnant in your soil?

Hi Happy Earth,
With my bananas I just place a spade between the sucker and the main stem and push the blade below soil level with my foot. The roots are severed and the sucker is prised away from the main. Then I lift the sucker out roots and all. It doesn't seem to effect the main plant. Other suckers will eventually come in a few months or so but they are easily despatched the same way.

I remove the unwanted suckers from my banana plants the same way. Sometimes it isn't posible to sever them intact. The important thing is to get deep enough to remove the bud so new leaves cant grow. Removing the rhisome is important if it is growing in a direction that you dont want the bananas to spread to. As the suckers grow the rhisome below them gets bigger and grows more roots. More mature suckers can be romoved taking the rhisome and roots with them. Use these to quickly produce another plant.

Fruiting Monkey Banana keeps having suckers. So I would like to enquire if its best to leave them on and grow them as a clump or keep removing them and grow a single stemmed plant. Also, is it ok to remove the sucker now while the parent plant is having fruit? Sorry I don't know much about growing these things so your valuable advice will be greatly appreciated.
