Bay Tree - Root System (forum)

1 responses

Lisa starts with ...
I would love to plant a Bay Tree in our backyard. However we have a retaining wall about 1-2 Metres away from where we wish to plant it. My concern is the Root System of the Bay Tree and whether we will have issues with the roots pushing over the retaining wall. Our soil is very sandy.

We intend to keep the tree at a height of about 2-3 metres.

Bay trees are another one that are great in pots. I have one in a pot myself. Its great because you can move it around to suit. They grow HUGE if planted, albiet very slowly. They take well to pruning and you can even shape them into a topiary or hedge if you so desire.
