There are plenty of pink flowering ones in the US.BJ I had a standard white fleshed type a couple of years ago that never flowered. Before I hacked it out I gave a cutting to a friend. He told me last week that it has pale pink flowers but took 2 years to flower.

I hope the fruit is still in good nick. They are medium sized as the large ones did not fit as well and there is less there is less variety in the plants.
The rain is pouring outside and the yard is a mudfest after getting 50mm+ every day for a long time.Hopefully there will be some breaks in the weather today so I can give the trees their yearly haircut.
Some of those dragon fruit are here and I hope to get some cutting fairly soon.

Mike I am speechless - how can I repay you? Yes, everything is in good nick and they're being planted RIGHT NOW. I know that the moon flower that only opens at night is used for Chinese medicine; I wonder if Dragon Fruit flowers have the same power, or are they the same thing?

Mary lots of plants that bloom at night with big white flowers including DF get called moonflowers.Maybe the chinese one looks like a white flowering kang kung and is in the same genus.
I didn't know if the mangosteens would be alright inside after travelling.

Hey Mike, your parcel arrived this morning, the Mangosteens in perfect condition, they taste like they were picked yesterday, beautiful. All valuable seeds planted immediately, can't wait for them to germinate. As always, very much appreciated.

These are self pollinating. I hand pollinate just to make sure. It's shaping up to be quite a large fruit, worth weighing when ripe.

Mike I did some Chinese googling and the flower's latin name is The Epiphyllum oxypetalum ( night-blooming cereus); guess it is not the dragon fruit but sure looks similar to those in John Mc's photos. Mike all's well in the parcel - mangosteens were yummy and perfect; sorry I had to run off mid conversation - had to plant the living specimens then leave to teach.

Mary T DF are hylocereus and are closely related to epiphyllums with both being climbing night blooming cactus native to central america. There are several other genera loosely called 'cereus'.Maybe all are called moon flowers.
There isn't that much flesh recovery from mangosteens so it is easy to eat lots at once.

Guys, keep the mangosteen pericarp, dry it in the sun, then make it into a powder. it is ideal for tropical sores or any skin eruption. Internally very useful for ALL fevers. SE Asian monks have used it for centuries!
Mary T that flower was bigger than my hand & longer ( say past the wristbone).
