Just a tip from someone who has tried most things to scare off birds- don't waste your money. The only things that work are nets.

Not really. You do a lot better if you buy quantity from commercial net wholesalers and then share .Sometimes you can get seconds which have been downgraded because they are not a continuous length; this does not matter for us, usually.

Like me you'll probably try various clever frameworks and then conclude it's not worth the effort.

john yes I agree that in end nets are the only effective bird damage prevention method and frames are not worth the effort. The cockatoos (and other avian partners in crime) are still laughing about my lame scarecrow a couple of years ago and the plastic hawk in the yard. The standard bird net mesh size will let fruit sucking moths through at my place.I now have a couple of nets with small enough mesh size but moths still bite fruit that touches the mesh.

That's not such a crazy idea BJ! Friends of mine on a commercial veggie garden had guinea pigs running around to attract hawks, which scare off the parrots.
They did provide plenty of hiding places.

Brown and Grey goshawks got the last of my chickens a couple of years ago and they the ones the amethyst pythons left behind.Cockatoo raids on my passionfruit and citrus continued unabated when hawks moved on.
