Is anyone growing bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) in Australia. I find that seeds are not available in Australia until July (the USA summer), and am pretty keen to get some seed or plants.

Stephen Ryan (previous host of Gardening Australia) has it in his nursery as I bought a pot of them when I lived in Vic... worth a visit there, lots of cool climate plants - if you have anyone who is visiting the Mt Macedon area they could pick it up for you as he doesn't do mail orders.

I have been growing blood root for about 5 years initially from seed and last year through a sub-division of one of the corms. It is a long process to bring it on to the market, but I have done the same with Golden Seal and Black Cohosh.
I hope to have some plants available 2017-2018.

Hi. I should have some spare seed available from my Australian grown plants late November when the seed is harvested. At the moment I have I have around 60-70 plants with flowers. I also am releasing some 50 plants for sale this year. They can be picked up from my home in East Warburton or an order placed for delivery next year when they go dormant. Regards Tony. I bought a goldenseal plant from all rare herbs and it had a shoot but the shoot seems to be dead. I hope it can grow another shoot, but I guess that won't happen.

Thank you Tony. I am unable to collect plants as I live in NSW. How much will your seed be in November? Thanks.

I actually supply All Rare Herbs with their Golden Seal! As it is early in the season, a secondary shoot should come up in about 2-3 weeks. You have the right climate in Katoomba for growing Golden Seal.
