Boiling guava seeds (forum)

Has anybody had much experience boiling seeds to encourage them to germinate? I've never done this before, and have ordered some guava seeds (thai purple, thai ruby) which require this treatment according to the growing instructions.
thanks

Only tried it on acacias, which definitely need it. Not actually boiling, just poured boiling water over.
Success varied with different types.

It is better not to boil guava seeds just soak them overnight, plant and keep warm. The Thai purple is the same as the Malaysian reds and purples and not so much for eating as looking at.It is a pity we can't import the seeds because the US and Brazil are bristling with many fine types while we are saddled with the more ordinary ones.
