Bugs Eating Apple Trees-help (forum)

I am new to fruit trees. I sprayed Bonide fruit tree spray before bloom. Now there are hundreds of these bugs eating the leaves. Is bonide the right spray for the apple trees/this bug? How often do i need to spray? Is there a better product?
Thanks!

Pyrethrum kills aphids but it is not systemic so you will have to repeat the treatment regularly. As John said, Hosing them off works well and it doesn't harm the lady bugs.

It looks like what you have there is a crane fly, as adults they mostly only feed on nectar or do not feed at all, just mate and die. The larvae are known as leatherjackets and can damage grasses by chewing the roots. I think it may only be an accidental visitor to your fruit tree - it certainly isn't capable of chewing a leaf.

Phil is correct. The cranefly has its hindwings reduced to balls on stalks (halteres) and this gives its identity away. That one looks like a non-feeding adult. The perpetrators will be something else.
