Hi all!!

Just wondering if the cherimoya requires hand pollination or does it still fruit without some help?

Thank you!

What variety? most do set fruit on their own. Hand pollination will increase yield.

JohnMc1. Have you definitely had fruit that you didn't hand pollinate? I am genuinely interested in whether hand pollination is necessary.

They can fruit light/ heavy in alternate years. My tree was in humid environment so cross pollenate occured naturally and more easily. Also there were tiny insects thought to be pollenating. Namely a fruit thrips called Thrips obscuratus.but not completely sure. When not enough flowers were being produced I would take off about half a dozen leaves from the middle of the current growth to allow/ induce flower buds to form. I am not sure of the best time of day to hand pollenate.
